The 16U Moose Red midget team won 5 games and lost 1 this weekend to win the Labor Day tournament played at Billerica HS and the Bedford Edge Arena hosted by the Eastern Mass Senators. The 8 team field included the New Jersey Devils, Western Mass Blades, Minutemen Flames, Lynnfield Spartans, E Mass Senators, 495 Stars and the Valley Jr. Warriors. The only loss of the weekend came at the hands of the Valley Jr. Warriors; however, the Moose were able to get a rematch in the finals on Monday and defeated the Warriors 3 to 2 in regulation. The team improved throughout the weekend. At the outset of the tournament, it was obvious that the players on all teams were rusty and the play was sloppy with undisciplined systems. As the tournament progressed, however, the passes became crisper and the scoring got tougher as the defensive systems tightened up. The Moose goalies (Drew McClemen and Derek DeCastro) played well giving up only 4 goals over the last 2 round robin games and 2 playoff games.   The players skated hard and never quit as they came from behind in both the semi final and final game to win close contests. Game results were as follows:
